What is iTunes Radio

iTunes Radio is an Internet radio service by Apple Inc. Announced at the 2013 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10, 2013, the service will launch in late 2013, on release of iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks.

It will be available across devices, including being integrated into the Music app, both on portable iOS devices and Apple TV (2nd generation onwards), as well as the iTunes app on Macintosh and Windows computers.

The Service of iTunes Radio

iTunes Radio will be a free, ad-supported service available to all iTunes users, featuring Siri integration on iOS. Users will be able to skip tracks, customize stations, and purchase the station's songs from the iTunes Store.

Users can also search through their history of previous songs. Apple has not confirmed if the number of track skips will be limited like Pandora Radio's service. iTunes Match subscribers will be able to use an ad-free version of the service.

The Ad-effects Generated by iTunes Radio

The ad revenue iTunes Radio generates might not necessarily be more significant than Pandora's. People familiar with Apple's thinking said the company is primarily hoping that iTunes Radio will encourage listeners to buy the tracks they like at the iTunes Store and help the tech giant sell more iPhones, iPods and other hardware.
